Solutions · Team assessments

See the team, not just the average.

Cohort-based scoring turns individual responses into team, department, and organization-level insight — with drilldowns that go all the way back to a single respondent.

Who assesses teams on Ascent

HR & operations leaders

Compare team health, collaboration, or readiness across departments without exporting anything to a spreadsheet.

Team & delivery managers

Run a quick pulse or a deep team diagnostic and see exactly which sub-team or function is dragging the average.

Consultants running team workshops

Deliver a white-labeled team assessment as part of an engagement, then hand over a branded, drill-down report.

How Ascent models it

Cohorts turn people into teams.

Cohorts are Ascent's grouping primitive — the same mechanism that groups raters in a 360° groups members into teams here.

Model teams as cohorts

Every respondent is tagged to a team, department, or classifier of your choosing. A single assessment run captures individual answers while Ascent groups them into cohorts automatically — no separate exports needed.

Roll individual answers into team scores

Automated, weighted, or calculated scoring models aggregate each member's responses into a team-level score per section — so 'Team Alpha's collaboration score' is a real, computed number, not a manual average.

Benchmark team against team

Put up to three benchmarks on one chart: the organization average, a percentile across all teams, or a seeded target score. Instantly see which teams are ahead, behind, or trending.

Drill from org to individual

The tile report builder lets a leader start at the organization view, drill into a department, then a team, then an individual's own results — all from the same underlying data set.

An example flow, end to end

01

Design the team instrument

Build sections on collaboration, clarity, delivery, or whatever your team framework measures, using matrix grids, sliders, and free text for open comments.

02

Tag respondents to teams

Assign each participant to a team/department cohort at invite time, or let them self-select from a controlled list during the assessment.

03

Run the assessment

Conditional logic can branch questions by role (e.g. manager vs. contributor) while keeping every respondent inside the same instrument and cohort structure.

04

Score and aggregate

Individual responses roll up to team scores automatically. Re-run the same assessment next quarter and Ascent tracks the difference per team, per section.

05

Report with drilldowns

Deliver one interactive report: leadership sees the organization heat map, a department head drills into their teams, and each team sees its own benchmarked results.

Charts built for comparison

The report builder's echarts-powered tiles are built for exactly this: bar and radar comparisons across teams, with drilldown containers that reveal the individual scores behind any bar.

Track change over time

Run the same team assessment quarterly or annually and Ascent computes iteration differences per team automatically, so you can see who's improving and who has stalled.
